-
Labelling of appliances with PASS or FAIL status where appropriate
-
Provision of a digital test report and appliance register
Testing is carried out in accordance with industry guidance including the IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
PAT testing is one method of demonstrating electrical safety. Responsibility for maintaining electrical safety remains with the equipment owner or operator.
2. Customer Responsibilities
The customer agrees to:
-
Provide safe and reasonable access to all appliances to be tested
-
Ensure appliances are accessible and not in active use during testing
-
Inform EdiSeven of any known faults or hazards before testing begins
-
Ensure equipment is safe to handle and suitable for testing
Appliances that are not accessible at the time of testing may not be included in the report and may require a further visit.
Where testing cannot proceed due to lack of access, a minimum call-out fee may apply.
3. Appliances Covered
PAT testing applies only to portable electrical appliances connected via a plug.
The following are typically excluded unless agreed in advance:
-
Hardwired equipment

-
The appliance should be removed from service immediately
EdiSeven accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury resulting from continued use of equipment that has failed testing.
5. Condition of Equipment After Testing
PAT testing confirms the safety of equipment at the time of inspection and testing only.
EdiSeven cannot guarantee the continued safety or condition of any appliance after testing has been completed.
Electrical equipment may become unsafe due to factors including but not limited to:
-
Damage
-
Misuse
-
Modification
-
Wear and tear

Environmental conditions
-
Improper storage or handling
Responsibility for the ongoing safe use and maintenance of electrical equipment remains with the equipment owner or operator.
EdiSeven shall not be liable for any fault, failure, damage or incident occurring after the completion of testing.
6. Appliance Labelling
Where practicable, EdiSeven will apply PASS or FAIL labels to appliances following testing.
In some cases, applying a label may not be practical or appropriate. This may include situations where:
-
The label may interfere with the normal use of the equipment
-
The label may be exposed to heat, moisture or damage
-
The appliance surface is unsuitable for adhesive labels
-
Aesthetic considerations apply
Where a label is not applied, the appliance will still be recorded within the test report as having been tested.
Labels are provided as a visual reference only and do not replace the official test records contained within the test report.
7. Reports and Documentation
Following completion of testing, customers will receive:
-
A digital PAT testing report
-
An appliance register
-
Pass and fail results
Reports will be provided electronically unless a printed copy is specifically requested in advance.
